Scallion skyscraper gives sustainable nourishment to the tropical architecture

Posted: 12 Apr 2012 05:42 AM PDT

Radhicka S Saxena:

More and more architectural designs are taking off from nature inspired forms. One latest addition to this set is the Scallion skyscraper. The form of this high rise has been deduced from the Scallion plant generally found in coastal regions. The unique feature of the plant is that its roots spread out deep into the sea for its nourishment needs. The shape of this skyscraper has been drawn from this stretched out form of the coastal plant.

As the design is grabbed from a coastal plant, this unique high rise has also been crafted especially for tropical climatic conditions. Its outline will really suit places located between the Tropic of center and Tropic of Capricorn. It is also a good design for coastal areas. Furthermore, most of these areas are known to be windy. So, accordingly, the fluid and curvy design of Scallion skyscraper will also minimize the flow of air greatly.

Cutting edge construction technologies and architectural inventions have been deployed to make this building. It practically reaches for the sky and holds a residential area as well as recreation spots within. The main body, which coils into an airfoil shaped surface that faces the sea, is where the residential wing is located. While, the roots that extend out from the towering frame accommodate the leisure facilities like the green island and the yacht club.

Moreover, the entire structure is roiled in hi-end and luxurious amenities. There is a pool on the roof that doubles up as a helipad. The bottom floor of the pool can be lifted above by three hydraulic jacks in just two minutes to reveal a helipad. The yacht club boasts of a lavish hotel and a boat berthing facility. On one side, there is also a sea resort from where you can enjoy the scenic view and relax in harmony. As if this wasn't enough, the gigantic and marvelous structure has also been outfitted with sustainable technologies. The wind turbines can produce1500 kWh of power. The RED Solar shaded balcony, which that has about 30 high quality solar panels, can generate 1400 kWh of energy. The top of the wind gate holds a solar water heater which supplies warm water for showers, baths and other needs. This awe inspiring structure has been designed by an Iran based product designer, Pouyan Mokhtarani.

Radhicka S Saxena:

The age old and customary system used at the United States Post Service will go through a complete overhaul. Now, every time you want to send out a post, you will not have to go all the way to the post office. An automated and unmanned kiosk will make things really convenient for you. Dubbed as Mailpoint, it will change the face of the conventional postal system. The interface is easy to understand and approachable. It has a stamp dispensing facility and also a parcel storing unit.

Using the device is a cinch. Just select form any one of the multiple options on the touch screen. Enter the weigh and address for the shipment. Then, a box will be dispensed in which you can place the items you want to send out. Place this package inside the mini elevator and press the done button to finish the task. The box is then carried to the storage unit. All posts are collected later by delivery vehicles for distribution.

Don't worry about the storage getting packed as a multi level basement is used for stockpiling. A mini elevator takes the mails under the ground and the posts are arranged in here by robotic arms. There is also a solar panel outfitted on the top. The device is not only easy to maneuver but also sustainable and saves energy. This system will make things a lot simpler for the current postal system also in which the number of delivery points had multiplied significantly.

From manmade havocs such as nuclear warfare to natural disasters such as erupting volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis, what hasn’t Japan risen back from! Probably this is a testament to their clarity of thought, peace of mind and undying regard for nature, which makes the nation what it is. The closed cycle society for a comfy spaceship voyage between planets

Posted: 12 Apr 2012 05:17 AM PDT

Radhicka S Saxena:

In the future, shuttling between planets will become a common exploit. So people are working on efforts to make this long and wearisome journey from one planet to another a lot simpler. And this rocket by UK based industrial designer Mark Beccaloni has been designed to make the journey comfortable and easy. The ship will minimize strain on the human body when it is in transit and will hold all amenities required to meet people's basic needs.

Firstly, the design excludes windows as they clash with the dome shaped silhouettes. There will be a reasonably good supply of air inside, thanks to the discovery of biomass production systems. Additionally, a huge chunk of the floor space was taken up by computers earlier, but now these brilliant mainframes have drastically reduced in size, thus making way for a comfy and spacious living area on the jet. The capsule can also be used as fuel tanks and storage space onboard.

Food will also not be an issue on this ship. Instead of carrying dry goods and canned fare, there will be provisions to grow food on the space bound shuttle. In fact, plants in low gravity conditions grow out to be larger and more nutritious. Some studies have found that tomatoes that grow in zero gravity conditions are 10 times larger and hold 30% more vitamins per volume.

In fact, people will be able to go about their lives as usual while they are on this craft. They can watch a movie, go jogging on a magnetic mattress and also sip on a coke. Mankind has taken up similar space bound feats even before. The technology will be perfected in the near future and then manned voyages to outer space will become a common feature.

The piece with woody exteriors and metallic add-ons fuses together nature inspired design and hi end technology. This uncanny combo of earthy and new age is quite rare. Operating the mouse becomes so much easier now as you can roll the wheel easily with your thumb and this motion exerts lesser strain on your hand. A rolling movement comes naturally to your thumb, so this particular addition is definitely a clever one.

The outline of this mouse is ergonomic and it is designed to be in accord with the natural movements of the human body. It exerts minimal stress on your palm and lower arm to keep the Repetitive Strain Injury Syndrome at bay. Its built is sturdy and functioning is unbeatable. You can easily use it for mundane tasks like navigation and playing games. Plus, it works smoothly even with graphic design applications and computer aided software. The latest laser technology has been embedded in this pointing device. For user convenience, it also slots in wireless connectivity and Bluetooth.

Keeping in mind the fact that the device will be controlled by hand for long hours, the gadget is treated with only natural substances. So, the contraption will not pass on toxins or chemical pollutants to your skin. Absolutely no additives, chemical solvents or synthetic coating was used in the piece. It is treated only with natural waxes, oils and shellac. The jacket of ceramic layer on the exterior is anodized. Also, RoHS-compliant aluminum alloy is used in the piece. Moreover, the ergonomic mouse uses the wood sourced only from FSC certified timber companies to support green initiatives.

Cutting edge 'Time Splitter' watch to woo geeks

Posted: 12 Apr 2012 02:56 AM PDT

Shallu Sharma:

Taking the puzzle created by Lloyd in his childhood to the next level, a watch design named as "Time Splitter" has been crafted. Time Splitter's bizarre yet attractive display might look complicated in the beginning but after understanding the trick it becomes quite easy. It features both a time mode as well as a date mode. To view digits in any of these modes just combine first and second figure and third and fourth figure in every row to compose 4 digits. The bizarre part of its display is it gives the appearance of 8 incomplete digits split in half presented vertically.

The watch features a robust strap crafted from an animal friendly manmade material. It is USB rechargeable and can be easily recharged by connecting via a computer. To read time you just need to learn how the digits are displayed and what digits are formed on combining half patterns presented in rows. Once you get this, reading time would become a cake walk and people will remain wondering how you managed it.

The tricky design of Time Splitter will definitely appeal to science-fiction and puzzle lovers. Geeks who enjoy "out of the box" things would love to flaunt it as their style statement. At first this puzzling display gives an impression of being really tough to understand but with time you will start enjoying the trick.
