Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp helps fight winter blues

Posted: 04 May 2012 09:26 PM PDT

Asmita Prasad:

Light deprivation and Seasonal Affective Disorder results from a lack of exposure to natural sunlight and is often the underlying cause of depression among people whose lifestyles compel them to stay indoor through the day or who work at night. The Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp created by honors graduate Lisa Gabel from Massey University, New Zealand focuses on bringing the goodness of sunlight indoors. Since natural sunlight has a therapeutic effect on people and is known to lift their mood positively, the Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp looks to combat the lack of sunlight in our daily routine rather than looking to serve as a tool that can treat depression resulting from light deprivation.

Instead of asking people to make drastic changes to their increasingly indoor based lifestyle, the Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp allows them to experience the benefits of traditional light therapy without being isolated into special treatment chambers.Light plays a vital role in boosting our alertness and awareness which in turn increases people's focus and mental agility. The Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp thus can be used in artificially-lit places of public interaction like staff lounges in offices, cafes, libraries and even homes if their structures do not allow sufficient sunlight to come in.

The Sunlight Light Therapy Lamp is designed to be placed on a table while its warm colors and circular form simulate the effect of natural sunshine simulating a biologic response which lifts people's mood. The device is fitted with a rechargeable battery pack that runs for a good 6 hours on a full charge and can even be charged wirelessly. The portable device is also great for people living in retirement homes, coping with winter depression and those who travel by air frequently.

Radhicka S Saxena:

Tuk tuks aren't a common site outside Asia but they are undoubtedly a practical ride. Most are built on a shoestring budget and are still manage to ship passengers from one site to another just as well as manufactured automobiles do. But, sadly, the gas powered tuk tuks from Asia don't comply with safety or quality standards in Europe. However, an upgraded version of this superb auto has been built in Europe now.

Tuk Tuk Factory is a Dutch company that has come out with this improved version. The three wheeler is also a mobile catering machine and has been loaded with food prep equipment.

On the front is the usual driver's seat with controls but the rear of this tuk tuk is quite different from one you see sauntering on Asian roads. When you open the panel at the back a selling space with a canopy on top comes out. A table can also be added to this lovely setup. In fact, the table extends out from inside the vehicle. There is also a cargo storage area at the back.

A maximum speed of 31 mph can be attained by this vehicle and its range is about 43.5 miles. This is a good enough speed for cities but might pose a slight problem on highways. The seamless display for iPhone which is seemingly seemly

Posted: 04 May 2012 09:24 PM PDT

Nandini Kumar:

As great new features never stop to surprise us, another new one comes in just in time. The fresh concept introduced this time is a seamless display in the two new iPhones namely, iPhone Ace and iPhone Jocker. The display of both the iPhones is made of graphene that uses the AMOLED technology. The main feature however is the absence of seams where the iPhones fold, making the design standout successfully. The iPhone Ace is a sliding iPhone while iPhone Jocker is a folding one. Here is a closer look into the technology and design that accompany these brand new ideas.

Seamless Flexible Display iPhone Concepts: Ace and Jocker

The body of these iPhones has been made up of aluminum that apart from giving them a classy look also acts as a cooling fan. The iPhones also possess solar panels to power the handsets, saving around 30 percent of the electricity. The iPhones have been made in line with the current technology and can be assumed to be akin to the latest smartphones in the market today. The double battery concept, one electrical and the other solar, is also a wonderful idea that sets this particular concept apart. The only thing that can cause worry is the possible fragility. The seamless bodies of the iPhones also result in removing the protection that other phones have.

It is being said that these iPhones are a step into the future with an out of the box idea for their looks as well as performance. A step ahead from rest of the smartphones out there, will these chic designs be sturdy enough to compete with them? We have our fingers crossed and hope that this concept proves its worth.

The ‘Banging’ solution from Bang and Olufsen to turn your iPad into a TV

Posted: 04 May 2012 09:23 PM PDT

Shallu Sharma:

The eccentric design of the gadget would make you wonder if it is a stand, a case or a speaker system. Actually, a cool combination of all three, christened as the “B&O Play Beoplay A3″ efficiently turns your iPad into a mini-television or media center. It's an iPad housing packed with adaptive stereo speaker technology and three speakers to produce beefy stereo sound impact, unaffected by the device's orientation.

The "stable wedge" design lets you use it in portrait, landscape or even slant it on its back for typing purpose. The rationale behind its design was to give a new life to your "lying around" older iPad so that you can simply put it on your table and watch TV with best audio quality or use Skype and likewise.

However, you got to be little cautious before handing it over to little kids at your home because it might produce loud music instantly. The gadget has got its own internal battery, which runs independent of your iPad's battery and lasts up to eight hours when fully charged. It can also be used with a power cable and when being charged the iPad also gets charged itself.

The gadget will hit the B&O shops in May with the price tag of £449. Initially, only black version will be available but plans are being made to produce white later in the year.

Seat W: Wheels for the modern woman behind the wheel

Posted: 04 May 2012 09:22 PM PDT

Radhicka S Saxena:

Notice how most automobiles are masculine and kind of aggressive. Although men tend to like autos more than women, vehicle makers should also take notions of women into consideration before designing speedsters. After all, throngs of women drivers hit the road every day. To cater to the needs of modern women drivers, Seat W was drafted with its very feminine design, and the car even bagged an award at the Automagazine Design Contest. The feminine design, simple functionality and friendly appearance of the car reinforces women's independence. The design of the car, inspired by the Panton Chair created by Verner Panton, is something women will be able to relate with easily. When a modern woman sits behind its wheels, she and the car will feel one and the same.

The look of the car is womanly and sophisticated due to the softened lines and svelte outline. The Seat Ibiza fitted inside the car is feminine yet strong and purposeful. The design appears to be approachable and can be used effortlessly. Despite these easygoing feminine traits, the auto looks dynamic and proficient in its delivery. The car has a swanky curvilinear chassis and a substantially large glass encasing. Though it is spacious, the roadster does not look bulky, as it has a closed in design. The glazed top, sleek placement of doors and the way they open unobtrusively only adds to the image of the car.

The itsy bitsy grille in the front is hardly noticeable. The headlights integrate smoothly into the design and are not very garish. The indicators are cleverly placed towards the center of the chassis. The patterned wheels of the auto are really adorable. The flower shaped cutout on the wheel is covered with plastic. The w logo imprinted on the wheels also commemorates a flower and signifies freedom, independence and lightness.

The shape of the car makes it look secure, safe and stable. It looks like you will enjoy a pleasant windy ride in it. The side doors that open from the center make a wide entryway into its interiors. There are ample of storage spaces inside and the trunk opens only partially. The spare tyre is stowed inside a drawer. While the motor oil, refrigerator liquid and windshield liquid are placed in easy to access areas and can be procured without opening the hood. Instead of making 90 percent of the body interchangeable, only the minor panels in the bumper and door frame have been made transposable.

All in all, the whole package is delicate and extremely feminine. It is a savvy blend of aesthetics and functionality. Females will be able to relate to the car easily. Form and function were the prime emphasis throughout the design and development phase of the auto. The design idea stressed on creating a car that would feel like an accessory, something that would increase the comfort level of women. The unique design boosts the pleasure of driving and is able to cope with the urbane lifestyle of modern women drivers easily. All features provided in the car are extremely user friendly. The cars design is handy as well as swish and will make all women drivers feel special.
