The Saturn Y roadster is a creation of Filip Bosevski, a Macedonian design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.

The Saturn Y roadster is a GM sponsored project which asked for new and creative uses of their E-Flex hybrid platform. The E-Flex system is a drivetrain which comprises of an electric motor powered by lithium-ion batteries. The batteries can be charged in a variety of ways including, direct charging though a mains electrical socket, a small onboard engine (petrol, diesel or hydrogen fuel cell) connected to a generator tops the batteries up for long journeys, and regenerative braking helps improve range.

The E-Flex components are asymmetrically distributed throughout the Saturn Y concept allowing for a unique layout and seating configuration.
The Saturn Y is a three seater with the power train located to the right of the single rear seat. The battery pack is positioned near the front of the vehicle under the trunk.
Bosevski chose the Saturn brand for his concept, inspired by their latest models like the attractive Saturn Sky. With its radical styling and unconventional layout the Saturn Y roadster is designed specifically for younger buyers in the US market.
The cars bold exterior graphics were influenced by graffiti, and are designed to inject a fresh, unique and rebellious feel into the car.
The styling of the Saturn Y roadster is striking and futuristic. The lack of any wind protection, and the solitary drivers seat to the right of the car adds to the sense of performance and youth orientated design.
